CASCADE’S GRANDSLAM
FISHING CONTEST
RULES/REGULATIONS
1. The Cascade’s Owasco
Lake (COL) Fishing Derby will start at dawn on May 26th, 2008 (Memorial Day) and end at
5 P.M. on September 1st, 2008 (Labor Day). Awards Ceremony will be Sat., September 6th, 2008.

To enter Youth Division, child must be between the ages of 3-15, at the time of registration. There will be
two age categories – Youth ages 3-7 & ages 8-15. Entry fee is $5.00.

Participants must be registered for the event by 5 pm the day before they enter a fish.
4.
Participants will enter only fish caught in Owasco Lake and its tributaries, in accordance with all NYS Department
of Conservation Fishing Rules and Regulations. Participant must have valid NYS fishing license unless exempted by law.
5. Fish must be weighed at our official Weigh Station and
proper Weigh-In Forms must be completed within 24 hours of fish being caught. Registrant must catch fish personally
and be present at the time of weigh in. Weight will be determined by full ounce only. No fractions of an ounce will
be recorded. All bait visible in the mouth of any fish will be removed prior to weighing. Weigh Station will be at
the Cascade Grill from 3:00 to 5:00 pm daily.
Fish must be whole, not gaffed, gutted or snagged. Fish will be examined for foreign
materials (including but not limited to water, ice, weights), gill net marks, bleached and slimy gills, hook and/or gaff marks,
fin rot or fungus, freezer burn, clouded eyes, unresponsive flesh - any of which can disqualify the fish. Decision
of judges will be final.
6. There will be three
major areas of competition - Species Challenge, GrandSlam Challenge, and The Merchants Youth Challenge.
SPECIES CHALLENGE:
a. Anglers entering the largest fish (by weight) in each of the 7 eligible species will
receive prizes and trophies. The seven species are as follows: brown trout, lake trout, rainbow/steelhead trout, walleye,
perch, northern pike, and bass.
b. In the event of a tie, the person who entered the first fish according to date and time recorded on the weigh
form will be the winner.
c. Participant is entitled to only one division cash prize. No participant
may win more than one of the division prizes, although contestants may enter more than one fish. If the
succeeding fish is larger, the smaller of the fish with the least weight will be withdrawn.
GRANDSLAM
CHALLENGE:
a. To be eligible for prizes in the GrandSlam Challenge, angler must catch and enter one fish in each
of the following seven species: brown trout, lake trout, rainbow/steelhead trout, walleye, northern pike, perch and bass.
Angler may enter additional fish in each species, if larger than one already registered. Only the largest fish in each species
entered by an angler will be eligible. All fish must be caught between May 26, 2008 and September 1, 2008
b. Winners will be determined by total accumulative weight of the sevevn eligible fish.
In the event of a tie, the person who entered the first fish according to date and time recorded on the weigh form
will be the winner.
MERCHANTS CHALLENGE YOUTH
DERBY:
a. Youth Division prizes will
consist of merchandise and trophies. Prize structure will be based on the number of registered entrants. Each youth
is eligible to win one prize only. This rule allows more youths to win a prize.
7. Each Participant
in the Contest:
a. Agrees to submit, if required by a Derby Committee Official, their fish for examination
by a Contest Judge when deemed appropriate by Weighmaster.
b. Agrees that the decision of the judges will be final.
8.
All Grand Prize and First place division winners will attend the Awards Ceremony. All Grand Prize
and First Place Division leaders should try to bring the leading fish to the Ceremony. Winners should make
every attempt to keep the fish whole (not gutted) for photo purposes.
9.
Participants agree to hold The Cascade Grill, their sponsors, their agents, servants, and/or employees, harmless from
any liability of any nature and kind for injuries and/or damages suffered by the entrant during the period that the Derby
is held.
WEIGH STATIONS:
The Cascade Grill - South End of Owasco Lake (from 3- 5 pm only) 7 days per
week.
